Main fields of research:
Development of physical principles of optical phase memory on the basis of optical transient processes (above all, the long-lived photon echo) and superradiance.
Directions and results of research
The experimental and theoretical investigations of optical transient effects and superradiance in crystals doped with non-Kramers rare-earth ions. Development of optical phase memory principles on the basis of these effects. An automated frequency-tuned experimental unit for studying the above-mentioned effects at low temperatures has been created. Signals of the long-lived stimulated photon (light) echo, of the accumulated and multichannel photon echo and of the optical superradiance in the lanthanum trifluoride crystal doped with praseodymium have been observed and investigated. An operating model of the optical echo-processor has been created and optimal regimes of its operation are being investigated.
Development of advanced optical coherent spectroscopy techniques. A reverse method of optical echo-spectroscopy has been elaborated. Investigations aimed at development of angular echo-spectroscopy are under way.
Theoretical development of problems relating to laser cooling of solids. The anti-Stokes regime of laser cooling of doped crystals and glasses has been developed. The conditions under which optical superradiance may be used to intensify the laser cooling process have been scrutinized.
Research in the field of Mössbauer spectroscopy on iron-containing crystals exposed to radio-frequency fields. It has been experimentally shown that the resonance absorption of Mössbauer irradiation increases when the nuclear spin system is exposed to radio-frequency fields. The gamma-resonance technique was used to investigate the collector rock of oil fields of different genesis in the Republic of Tatarstan.
